Are you looking for an exciting new role as a clinical research assistant? We have a fantastic opportunity to join the Respiratory Research team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. The post will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to gain experience of clinical research from set up to completion and to develop an understanding of the importance that research makes to the care and treatment of our patients. The post holder will be responsible for the day to day running of research studies including screening of potential patients, recruiting patients into studies according to agreed protocols, assisting in the informed consent process and management of all the study related data.

The successful candidate will join our friendly, motivated and dynamic team. They will be working on the expanding Respiratory research portfolio of studies and gain a wealth of knowledge and experience surrounding respiratory medicine.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The post holder will have duties including phlebotomy and assisting in carrying out study related visits, sample collection and transfer, dealing with enquires, and maintaining study data documentation.

The post holder will require excellent communication skills and will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

The post holder should carry out their duties in such a way that makes a positive and direct contribution to the organisation of the work and smooth running of the service. To provide a high quality effective, efficient and confidential service to the assigned research team.

Person specification Qualifications Essential

Maths & English at GSCE level, Grade C or above (E)

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent comparable experience (E)

Experience Essential

Previous office experience (E)

Evidence of well-developed IT Skills including Microsoft Word, Excel,Outlook etc(E)
