Compliance Upskilling Accelerator
Glasgow

As a Barclays Compliance Upskilling Accelerator, you will join an exciting new re-skilling initiative designed to bring talented, diverse candidates with a variety of experience and backgrounds into the Compliance function. Working within either our Compliance Assurance or Investigations teams, you will be given specific on the job training during the first 6-12 months as well as more modular based learning via a Compliance curriculum, setting yourself up to develop a broad risk management mindset.

Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, with 329 years of success, quality and innovation behind us. We offer careers that provide endless opportunity – helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive, and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month, or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally can request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?

Planning & Scoping and Review delivery (for Assurance roles):
  • Taking a proactive approach to identifying and agreeing review coverage and developing the scope of individual reviews
  • Keeping up to date on business developments, regulatory changes and Compliance objectives so that Compliance Assurance work remains relevant, timely and value-added
  • Aiding continual review and development of the annual review plan by assessing the conduct, reputational and regulatory risks of existing business activities and new business initiatives
  • Ensuring adherence to the Compliance Assurance methodology in the execution of reviews (planning, testing, findings validation and reporting) and the monitoring of actions

Process Activity (for Investigations roles)
  • Conducting analysis and assessment of alerts and cases using internal systems and external research tools
  • Taking ownership of individual cases using appropriate case management tools and techniques to meet timescales for alert investigation processing
  • You will accurately document supporting evidence for alert/case closure

What we’re looking for:
• Excellent analytical and investigative skills with the capability to identify key risks and areas of non-conformance with regulatory and legislative requirements and identify root cases
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to all levels of the business, so that they are clear and impactful
  • A self-motivated team player, with the ability to organise and prioritise their own workload to maximise efficiency
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a structured and risk-based manner

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Genuine enthusiasm for developing a career in Compliance
  • You will be curious with an enquiring mind
  • Flexibility and capability to reorganize priorities when circumstances dictate

Where will you be working?
