About the team

This role will sit within the Learning and Skills Development (L&SD) team, supporting them, Human Resources and the Digital function. These teams sit within the Operational Services and Transformation (OST) team, which leads organisation-wide change.

The L&SD team works with all areas of Scottish Forestry to implement and evaluate the Learning and Skills Development Strategy which captures, prioritises, delivers and evaluates Learning and Skills Development needs in line with the Agency’s Strategic Objectives and Corporate Plan.

In common with the L&SD Team, the People function, which is currently undergoing significant transformation, works across all areas of SF. The People Team provide operational and strategic advice and support to Senior Managers, Line Managers and staff across the entire range of HR services, including case management, policy development, resourcing and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

The Digital function, also works with all areas of Scottish Forestry to ensure that digital assets and estate meet the needs of business as well as meeting digital and cyber resilience standards. They make digital and systems decisions; identify emerging technologies and their potential; understand stakeholder requirements and organisational processes and devise options to improve systems; and assess business systems risk and identify mitigation actions.

Scottish Forestry is currently undergoing a significant systems transformation, implementing new Finance and HR and Payroll systems. This role will provide support to the People and Digital teams.

Job description

What you will do

The main area of focus will be to work with the Learning and Skills Development Manager to create the Scottish Forestry learning section on the Scottish Governments Learning Experience Platform, Pathways. In addition this role will provide an administrative support to the wider HR and Digital functions as required.

To be successful in this role, you will require the ability to organise your workload and be comfortable with addressing potentially conflicting priorities. The ability to adapt to change is essential. You will work closely with others and will require strong and effective communication skills. You should be methodical and organised with exceptional attention to detail and be confident in using a full range of IT and systems.

Whilst supporting the HR function you may have access to personal information therefore the ability to act with integrity and observe confidentiality will be essential.


Person specification

Experience

Essential:

  • Experience of working in an administrative role.
  • Ability work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple and often conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience of working with range of different stakeholders, senior management and colleagues across the organisation.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with business systems such as HR, Payroll, Learning and Development.
  • Organising and maintaining administrative systems.


Technical

Essential:

  • Good knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.

Desirable:

  • HNC/HND in Business Administration
